The island of Kos, a Greek tourist paradise, has turned its back to the hundreds of migrants reaching safety. An abandoned hotel is now an improvised refugee camp where they sleep on the floor while waiting for permits to continue the journey. Under tight security, a long line of men, women and children filled with anxiety and fear wait hours to board a ferry. “Finally the ferry sails for Athens amid cheers from refugees on the upper deck,” Javier Bauluz writes.
