For the Aymaras of Untavi, a village that used to be in the shores of Lake Poopó, its disappearance means the loss of their daily sustenance.
The disappearance of Lake Poopó entails the loss of an ecosystem: some species have died and others have migrated. It would be hard for the rain alone to reverse the situation.
